Best Buddies  (Sponsor: Deborah Kibalo)

Purpose: To enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships with non-disabled peers.

Educational Objectives: To support the goal of a safe and nurturing educational environment for all students, including students with disabilities.

 Description: Students with developmental disabilities were paired with non-disabled students and participated in several in-school and community activities. Theses activities included: 

• Adopt a Family at Christmas,

• Homecoming Wall Decoration,

• Toys for Tots for the United States Marine Corp Reserves,

• Friendship Games at the University of Maryland,

• Several social activities to promote friendship between disabled and non-disabled peers.
