Welcome to the Broadneck High School Web Site. Please take time to explore it and check back often for updates and new information. Links to the School Newsletter “What’s Bruin?” and the Student Newspaper “Tribruin” as here as well. As new editions are placed online, you will be notified by a ConnectEd Email message that they are available. My name is David Smith and I am pleased to be the Principal of Broadneck High School. I am in my thirty-sixth year as a professional educator – most of which have been spent as either a Middle or High School Assistant Principal or Principal. I am also a parent whose children (now adults) attended public schools. Having that perspective is helpful in my professional life. We display the terms “Responsibility, Rigor and Respect” prominently at BHS. These terms convey a simple and clear message about the expectations we hold for ourselves and our students. For example, the term “Responsibility” could refer to something as simple as doing homework or as difficult as taking care of a friend who finds him or herself in a dangerous situation on a Saturday night. Our students will hear us using these terms to remind them in a clear and simple way of what a Broadneck Bruin should be. I ask your help to reinforce this message with your sons and daughters. From time to time you may have questions or concerns. When that is the case, please ask or raise them. While your first thought may be to begin with me, I encourage you to ask your question or raise your concern initially with the person who is best placed to respond. That could be a teacher, counselor, coach, assistant principal or support staff member. The goal is to resolve concerns promptly. The staff member who works directly with the student is best placed to do so. If that is not possible, I will become involved as the process continues. Our goal is to provide all students with an education that allows them to meet their full potential in an environment that is safe, supportive and positive. We all have a role to play as we pursue that goal. Thank your for your interest in and support of Broadneck High School. I look forward to working with you in support of your sons and daughters / our students. Sincerely, David G. Smith, Ph.D.
